Well, look no further.

In today’s post, I’m going to share some of my favourite and easiest raw food recipes with you.

You see, the raw food diet, despite what some people might believe, does not necessarily just revolve around simple sliced fruits and vegetables. As delicious as carrots stick and hummus is, it’s only a matter of time before it’s gets tiring, right?

Although I’m personally not a big fan of complex and time-intensive recipes, some of them are worth the “journey”, since they taste so yummy!

Here are some examples of great raw recipes that you can add to your raw food diet meal plan

Bangin’ Raw Burgers

For a delicious meal at home, you might want to try the raw version of a hamburger.

Instead of the regular bun, you can create a bun substitute by mixing nuts and seeds with a touch of honey, and pressing them into circles. After a round in the dehydrator, your buns can be topped with some sesame seeds.

On top of each of these “buns”, you can place a large, meaty Portobello mushroom, a leaf of crispy lettuce, a slice of tomato, and some raw homemade ketchup and mustard.

If you like, you can also add a slice of avocado to your open-faced “burger” for that creamy, fatty texture.

Along with your raw burger, you can have some faux french fries, which are eaesily made by slicing an eggplant into fry-like shapes, and running them through the dehydrator for a few hours.

Served with a dusting of kosher salt and a side of homemade tomato ketchup, this meal will be sure to delight the entire family.

What if you’ve got company? Want a cool raw meal that will impress their taste buds?

Check this one out…

As your friends start filing into your house, sweep off their feet with a yummy cracker and cheese combo. But not the kind you might be thinking of.

You can create nut “crackers” with crushed nuts, a binding agent, and a spin in the dehydrator.

On top of these crackers, you can serve a raw “cheese” ball, made from nuts that have been soaked overnight, then blended with your choice of herbs and garlic. Or, if you’re lucky, you can find a local raw cheese, but that is a rare find indeed.

Then, once your guests have taken their seats, start off your dinner party with a simple spinach and strawberry salad, topped with a cold-pressed olive oil and vinegar mixture, and a sprinkling of sesame seeds.

From there, you can lead your guests tempt into a delicious raw soup – like a delicious gazpacho made from raw tomatoes, blended to a creamy consistency. If you want to make it even more thick, try adding a bit of avocado before you blend.

The soup can be spiced with your favorite flavors, and depending on the season, and garnished with a mint leaf.

Now for the “big hurra”, try this raw pasta main course…

A delicious zucchini angel hair “pasta”, tossed with a teaspoon of olive oil to loosen the “noodles”, and served with the diner’s choice of a zesty crushed fresh tomato sauce, or a tasty homemade pesto. Either way is sure to please.

Now that you can are your guests have been taking for a raw culinary adventure and now that everyone’s taste buds are yearning for more…

It’s time for dessert (my personal favourite part of any meal).

And what better way to satisfy that sweet craving than with a wonderful chocolate mousse. Here’s the recipe that I use in Eating for Energy (but don’t tell anyone I gave this to you, ok?):

Eating for Energy Chocolate Mousse

Serves 1 to 2

1 cup water
½ cup walnuts (unsoaked)
4 dates (pitted not soaked)
2 tbsp cacao powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
½ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp nutmeg

1. Put 1 cup of water in your high speed blender (or food processor) then add
enough walnuts to bring it up to 1 1/2 cups and blend until smooth.

2. Add the rest of the ingredients and blend until smooth

Talk about delicious. Just give it a try and you’ll see why I insist you include this dessert (and these raw recipes) into your raw food diet meal plan.

Ok, maybe you’re like me and don’t feel like dehydrating a bunch of fancy raw food recipes. Hey, that’s ok.

But it’s still really important to do your best to eat wholesome raw foods so the following 3 options will help you do so.

The Raw Food Diet Meal Plan for Lazy People Like Me

These recipes are all about simplicity, quickness, and fresh ingredients. In fact, this is what my diet usually looks like (instead of what I showed you above).

Green smoothies – Drinking green smoothies for breakfast (or at any point of the day) is a great way to ensure that you are getting super nutrition at the beginning (and throughout) of each day. Try different fruit combinations, and increase the nutritional value of the smoothie by adding “booster” ingredients such as wheatgrass, hemp, linseeds or fish oil.

Here’s one of my personal favourite smoothie recipes…

The Green Monster

1 apple
1 pear
1 banana
1 head of romaine lettuce
1/2 handful of parsley
4-5 stalks of kale, stemmed
Juice of 1/2 a lime
2-3 cups of water

1. Simply blend everything together in a blender and this will give you about 1 liter of green smoothie goodness!

Next…

Let’s move on to salads. Perhaps the 2nd easiest way to increase your raw food intake, is to serve a huge raw salad with every meal. As well as the raw veggies and salad ingredients you can also maxmimize the flavour and nutrition of the salad by throwing in nuts, seeds, fruit and oils.

Finally, the 3rd way to help get more raw fruits and veggies into your body is to…

Eat like a cow!

Have you ever what and how cows eat?

They graze the fields throughout the day eating small bunches of GRASS – that’s it!

If you’ve been wondering about where to get your calcium and protein from on a raw food diet then consider how cows get theirs…hmmm.

Anyways, you don’t have to get on all fours and eat the grass in your backyard but by grazing I mean that you can simply snack on your favourite fruits and veggies throughout the day.

It’s really as easy as that.

So there you have it – some gourmet and simple raw food recipes to add to you raw food diet meal plan.
