Actually, come to think of it, the raw food diet has been here since the beginning of time so it’s kind of ironic that the media and most people consider it a “hot trend” right now.
So why are people FINALLY starting to clue into the fact that eating raw foods is a good thing?
Well, perhaps it has something to do with the fact that the raw diet will help you lose weight fast, have more energy, stay healthier, feel sharper, live longer, and so much more.
And congratulations because you’re here, which means that you have decided to explore the raw food diet for yourself. You are not just going to accept a bunch of unsubstantiated claims, though.
You want to find the answers to some pretty pointed questions before you would consider making such a drastic change to not only the way you eat, but the way you live your life.
So, in the interests of making sure you make an informed decision, here are the questions you need to ask, and the people you need to pose them to.
Why follow a raw food diet?
Why not just eat cooked food? We have fire – shouldn’t we use it? You can ask this question of anyone who studies plant life, and they will tell you that cooking or overly heating any vegetable or other food matter will kill it.
Of course, the meats you consume are from animals that have already expired, and the plants have stopped living and growing when they were harvested. But there is more life in your food than that.
The power of living raw foods is that are abundantly rich with living enzymes, which helps us digest our foods more efficiently.
But when you cook a raw food – dramatically increasing its temperature – those enzymes begin to die. When they are gone, a large part of the benefit of the food has been removed.
Added to that, many cooking processes strip away valuable minerals and vitamins, not to mention starches. This leaves your food limp, soggy, and deficient in many of the benefits that you would assume to be there.
What limits does a raw food diet put on you and your lifestyle?
You might imagine that all you will be able to eat from here on in would be carrots and apples. But ask anyone who has tried the raw diet, and they will tell you about the amazing resources that exist to help you continue to enjoy a wide variety of tastes and textures while you eat raw.
There are plenty of cookbooks, raw food programs, and web sites available that can open up a whole new world of food preparation for you, including recipes for juicing, blending, dehydrating and simple combination that you might not have considered before.
They can guide you in ways to substitute other food items for what have traditionally been cooked mainstays, all the while allowing you to truly enjoy the food that you prepare, serve and eat.
The last question you might want to ask is…
Is the raw food diet lifestyle is right for me?
On this one, I wouldn’t really consider a dramatic change in lifestyle. Instead, all you’re really doing is committing to eating more fruits and veggies in their raw state.
It really isn’t that hard to do as long you’ve got a simple raw food plan to follow and recipes that don’t take long to prepare – like this raw food diet breakfast cereal I know you’ll love.
But if you’re still you can always consult with your regular physician. Although he or she might tell you’re CRAZY simply because most doctors have no idea or education about what healthy eating truly involves. After all, many doctors are less healthy than the patients they serve.
